There are No Mistrials

Things Not Found on Judgment Day, Part 2

Introduction

Any individual brought before the court in this mortal realm hopes that there is insufficient evidence, or the possibility of no verdict being brought after a jury deliberates. On Judgment Day, there is no possibility of a mistrial.

Definition of Mistrial

A trial that has no legal effect with regard to one or more of the charges brought against the defendant because of some serious error or prejudicial misconduct in the proceedings or a hung jury. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary) A hung jury is one that cannot come to a decision in regard to a case. However, there is no jury at Judgment Day. It’s just you and the judge; one-on-one.

Who is the Judge?

The judge on the final day of judgment will be Christ Jesus himself. It won’t be God the Father as Jesus states in John 5:22, “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son.” This is confirmed by Luke in Acts 17:31, “because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Jesus is the perfect choice as our judge because he was once like us; Paul wrote in Philippians 2:7, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. This is also confirmed in Hebrews 4:15, For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Why Jesus as Judge?

Aside from the fact that Jesus lived as a mortal and walked the earth amongst us, the scriptures assure us of three reasons he is the perfect judge:

      1. Righteous (Romans 2:5)

2. Just (John 5:30)

3. True (Revelation 16:7)

Given that Jesus’ judgment is final and irrefutable, we can be assured that there won’t be any innocent bystanders in Hell. Anyone who is sent there was sent for the evidence that was presented in the individual’s case. No mistakes or errors will occur during the trial.

The Evidence Presented

As each individual comes before the judge, the evidence presented is your entire life! This is stated in Revelation 20:12-13, And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.

This means that there are no secrets or any hidden thing that will be kept from Jesus…

Ecclesiastes 12:14, For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

Romans 2:16, in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Hebrews 4:13, And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Conclusion

Every Christian must realize that God can see everything that you do. Even if no one else is around or no one can see you, He can and will bring those things to light on the final day.

Every non-Christian should realize that even though you have evaded the courts of the mortal realm you will not evade the final judgment. And you have no chance of changing the mind of the judge. Instead, change your life now (today, even) and become a true New Testament Christian so, on the day of Judgment, you have a hope of eternal life.
