Where do The Dead Live?

Image
Bound for Eternity, pt. 4   Introduction Contrary to popular belief, when people die, and leave this mortal realm, they do not immediately go to Heaven (or Hell). The saying, “She’s looking down on us right now” has no merit whatsoever. Instead, there is a place that is more of a “waiting room” of those who left mortality and are waiting for Judgment Day. Jesus speaks of this place, called Hades, in Luke 16:19-21. There are two sides to Hades; Abraham’s Bosom (Paradise in Lk. 23:43) and Tartarus (Torment in Lk. 16:23). Between the two locations is an impassable gulf. In this article, we will study this passage of scripture.   Not a Parable Many religious people want to ignore this passage as simply a parable used by Jesus to tell a story. However, in the parables, all of Jesus’ examples are simple scenarios which could actually be a real thing. No names are given; just references to an occupation or social status. In Luke 16, although the rich man isn’t ...

The Throne of Hell?

Image
Introduction In Chapters 4 and 5 of the Book of Revelation, we see a detailed vision of the throne room of Heaven. Keeping in mind that this is not a literal description; rather a figurative one as announced in Rev. 1:3. But we see God sitting on His throne and His Son, Jesus, approaching the throne in regards to the scroll with the seven seals. A lot of people these days think that there is a similar scene in Hell; while God sits on His throne in Heaven, Satan sits on his throne in Hell. According to scripture, nothing could be further from the truth. You’re in My Chair! Over the last few decades I’ve always heard young people talk about Hell and the fact they believe that Satan sits upon a throne; watching over his dominion of lost souls. I’ve even heard people say that they would boldly walk up to him and say, “You’re sitting in my chair” which would be some kind of challenge to claim his throne and therefore rule the dominion instead. One such indiv...

If You Were to Die Tonight…

(from 2004) Introduction         This is a question that most people would rather ignore that to answer: If you were to die tonight, where would you go? Some might instantly say, “Heaven” while others might flippantly, or even proudly say, “Hell”. But what if I told you that, according to scripture, you would not go to neither place when you die? When You Die…         Contrary to what most religious people will tell you, Heaven or Hell is not the next stop after you pass from this mortal realm. They are the places of eternity as stated by Jesus in Mt. 25:46, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Eternity is your “final reward” but there is a location that every soul will venture into after leaving here. It’s what I’ve referred to as the Giant Waiting Room. Welcome to Hades         If you’...
