Your Life is Temporary

Image
What is Your Life, Part 4   Introduction Remember during the cold, winter weather, you used to go outside and exhale just to see your breath? As children, it was always neat to see your own breath as it left your mouth. However, that breath is visible for only a brief moment, and then it disappears. Our life is quite similar to that image. James writes, Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away . Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” (James 4:13-15) This is a constant reminder that we only have a short time here on earth. Whether we live for 85 years or, even, 969 years, like Methuselah, it is still temporary.   The Magic Number I’ve posted this at least twice before, in other ar...

09. Number Your Days

Image
God’s Bucket List for You, part 2   Introduction In Psalms 90:10-12, Moses prayed, The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath. So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. We’re only give so much time here on Earth and it is up to us to make everyday count. Each day breaks down into just 1440 minutes and when you subtract to amount for school/work and sleep, it’s even less. We should appreciate the amount we have daily.   I’ve Got Plenty of Time How often have we said, or heard someone say, that they have plenty of years ahead of them to do this or that? Most young people believe that religion is for the older people; those headed into their twilight years that are “closer to death” than they were in their youth. Yet, they do...

See You Tomorrow

Image
Bound for Eternity, Pt. 5   Introduction The phrase, “See you tomorrow” is commonly used daily. When you leave work or school for the day, when you leave a friend’s house, and so on. However, tomorrow never gets here. For example, today is Monday. That means that Sunday was yesterday, and Tuesday is tomorrow. When Tuesday arrives, it is then called, “Today” and Wednesday becomes tomorrow. Essentially, tomorrow never arrives as it always becomes today. In this article, we will look at when tomorrow does arrive.   Work while it is Day In John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” This is not to say that no one can work the overnight shift. It’s simply a matter of consistent daylight for us to work. Jesus is saying that there comes a time when no one will work at all; death or the Second Coming. It is during that day that we should accomplish everything we possibly can because we will n...

How Much Time is Left?

Image
Introduction When someone asks how many days are left in the month, or year, you can go to a calendar and figure it out. The same with upcoming holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or other events. But when someone asks, “How many days until Jesus returns?” then you can’t go to the calendar. The same if someone asks how many days do you have left to live. You hope you can’t figure that out on a calendar. But in the long run, everyone has the same amount of time.   This website is defunct. What’s Wrong with Date Setting? Ever since Christ’s ascension back into Heaven (Acts 1:9; Dan. 7:31), people have attempted to predict His return in the Second Coming (1 Thess. 4:16). An example of this in history is as follows: People thought Christ would return on January 1, 1000. From the Library of Date Setting… This year goes down as one of the most pronounced states of hysteria over the return of Christ. All members of society seemed affected by the prediction t...
