Who Wrote the Bible?

  Introduction Several years ago, I attempted to talk to a co-worker about the bible and he wasn’t interested. I was trying to tell him it was written by God; even though he had several human writers. His comment to me was, “Are you trying to tell me that God whispered in the ears of these men of what to write?” At the time, I didn’t have an answer. But it does make one pause and ask the question, who did write the bible? We’ll look at some possibilities below.   Potential Authors AN UNBELIEVER—How ironic would it be if the scriptures were, in fact, written by an Atheist? He would show how foolish it is to waste time worshipping someone, or something, that doesn’t exist. For sure, he would discuss the worship of idols like in Isa. 44:8-19; how one would spend all this time worshipping an inanimate object, hoping to be rewarded. But it isn’t written by an Atheist as they wouldn’t include verses like Psalms 14:1, The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." ...

All is not Revealed

  Silence of the Scriptures, Part 1   Introduction In Deuteronomy 29:29, it is written, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” What this means is that everything that is written in the bible is for us; if it’s not there, then it doesn’t matter. People find it hard to believe that God would keep certain things a secret from us; as if it necessary for us to have that knowledge.  It’s a shame that people think that if it isn’t revealed to us that we are responsible to find out the answers ourselves.    Bible Examples of “Not revealed” What was the forbidden fruit? In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve are in the Garden of Eden and being tempted by the serpent. Taking it for granted

Written by Christopher Mentzer (from 2003)               I had the opportunity a while back to play a computer called “The Sims”.  It’s an interactive game in which you control the everyday lives of these people.  Everything they do from giving them a job, to providing housing, entertainment and making friends you have to decide for them.  After playing for a while, I noticed that I also had to tell them when to use the bathroom, shower, eat a meal and clean up after themselves.  Now this may sound like these people are stupid, but as I mentioned at the start you control these people’s lives.             Sometimes we take for granted the little things in life; eating, cleaning up and showering.  That’s because we are taught when we are young to do these things so we don’t have to spend a lot o...
