God’s Plan for You
You may have heard at one
time or another someone say, “God has a plan for you!”. Of course, what they
mean is that God has something special in mind for your life that He doesn’t
have for another person’s life. But that’s okay because God has a plan for all kinds
of people; a unique plan just for them.
Unfortunately, this is
contrary to scripture. In Acts 10:34, the apostle Peter states, “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.” The
apostle Paul confirms this in Galatians 2:6, But from those who seemed to be something--whatever
they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows
personal favoritism to no man--for those who seemed to be something
added nothing to me.
The good news, however, is
that God indeed has a plan and it’s for everyone! As it is written in 1 Timothy
2:4, who desires all
men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
God’s Plan for Saving Man
Even before Genesis 1:1, God had a plan ready for all mankind. As Paul wrote in Titus 1:2, In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. (KJV) This was not a last-minute solution, as some false teachers would state, but was conceived even before the world was created.
Peter attests to this in 1
Peter 1:18-20, knowing
that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from
your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the
precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He
indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in
these last times for you.
In Genesis 3:15 came the
first prophecy of Jesus and the plan to save man from their sins, “And I will put enmity Between you
and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
The Invitation of Jesus
In Mt. 11:28-30 Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." This is an open invitation by Jesus to everyone regardless of ethnicity, sex, or social status. Everyone from the CEO of a company to a janitor is offered the opportunity to become a Christian.
God chose His Son to save all
of mankind (Jn. 3:16-17), then to judge the world as stated in Acts 17:30-31, "Truly, these times of
ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
"because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in
righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to
all by raising Him from the dead."
Conclusion
As the New Year begins,
examine yourself to see if you’re right with God (2 Corinthians 13:5). Compare
your life according to the scriptures and make sure you are a true New Testament
Christian. If not, here’s where you can begin…
What Must I do to be Saved?
On
three different occasions this question was asked (Acts 2:37; 16:30; 22:10).
The answer is always the same and it is the steps to becoming a Christian:
- Hear
the gospel (Rom. 10:17)
- Believe
Jesus is the Son of God (Jn. 8:24; Lk. 10:16)
- Confess
your faith in Christ (Mt. 10:22; Rom. 10:9-10)
- Repent
of your sins (Lk. 13:3; 5; Acts 17:30)
- Be
baptized for the remission of sins (Mk. 16:15-16; Acts 2:38)
- Live
your life faithfully; unto death (Rom. 12:1-2; Rev. 2:10)
You can begin the New Year
by become a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17); casting off the old man of sin and
putting on the new man (Col. 3:9-10).
If you are a Christian, but
not living your life the right way, it’s time to repent (Acts 8:22) and start
the New Year back on the path of righteousness. If there’s anything that I can
do to help you in one of these two matters, please make a comment below or
