How Much Time is Left?

Image
Introduction When someone asks how many days are left in the month, or year, you can go to a calendar and figure it out. The same with upcoming holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or other events. But when someone asks, “How many days until Jesus returns?” then you can’t go to the calendar. The same if someone asks how many days do you have left to live. You hope you can’t figure that out on a calendar. But in the long run, everyone has the same amount of time.   This website is defunct. What’s Wrong with Date Setting? Ever since Christ’s ascension back into Heaven (Acts 1:9; Dan. 7:31), people have attempted to predict His return in the Second Coming (1 Thess. 4:16). An example of this in history is as follows: People thought Christ would return on January 1, 1000. From the Library of Date Setting… This year goes down as one of the most pronounced states of hysteria over the return of Christ. All members of society seemed affected by the prediction that Jesus was

Why Is that Congregation Different?

Introduction A statement I once made holds the truth to Christians and the Church; All Christians assemble as the church of Christ, but not all churches of Christ are Christians. It seems confusing at first but once you dissect it, you’ll understand better. In our previous article, we discussed how the church of Christ is not a denomination; that it goes to the original source, the bible, for guidance. Here, we see where some churches of Christ lean away from scripture and chase after denominational trappings.   Why have you done this? In the book of Judges, the children of Israel began to go in their own direction of what God told them to do. Here’s the key passage: Judges 2:1-2, Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, 'I will never break My covenant with you. 'And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear

Guest Article-- Time Marches On

By Joe R. Price The sky did not fall on Election Day. It did not fall the next day, or the day after that. Your candidate may or may not have won. You may not know yet whether your candidate has won. Your cause may have been approved at the ballot box. It may have been rejected. Whatever the outcomes, do not despair. The earth remains until the Lord comes (Gen. 8:22; 2 Pet. 3:10-12). Until then, the sun will rise tomorrow. The gospel embeds an eternal perspective into Christians’ hearts, preparing us for eternity as we walk the winding, uneven road of life (2 Cor. 4:16-18). Until the Lord comes, Christians continue to pray.  About everything (Phil. 4:6). Without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17). Without being discouraged (Lk. 18:1). For all people, including those with authority over our lives (1 Tim. 2:1-2). Until the Lord comes, Christians continue to work . Always abounding (1 Cor. 15:58). Because it is day and the night is coming (Jno. 9:4). Because there is a harvest, and laborers are few

God is Still in Control

Introduction Every four years, just like the Olympics and Leap-a-year, we have a presidential election to elect the individual who will run the country of the United States next. Obviously, everyone wants their candidate to win as opposed to the other. Arguments ensue; including name calling, threats, and; most recently, riots. While the president changes from time to time, there is one thing that is, and always has been, unchanging; God is still in control of the planet and Jesus, His Son, is still sitting on His Throne! As the Hebrew writer pens, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever . (Hebrews 13:8)   #NotMyPresident If you will allow me to get on my political soapbox for a just a moment, I’d like to take you back to January, 2017 and the inauguration of the 45 th President of the United States. His nomination was met with sniggers, his campaign was considered a joke, and, when was elected, he was greeted by extreme hatred. The phrase, “Not My Presi
